Recently Post Op And My Losing As Much As Expected.. Could It Be...?

Recommended Posts

So I'm almost 3 weeks out, I started my period last week and have not lost ONE darn pound since!!! I'm really discouraged but I'm hoping to blame my period!! I've been working out and I've been eating what I'm suppose to... Anyone else had this???

Btw, I was losing before my period started but then I also started my period and started eating soft foods at the same time... If that makes a diff.

I wrote about this same discouraging subject last evening. It seems that it's a common issue when we convert from liquids to food. Patience is what we need right now, our bodies will adjust and the weight will come off. The experienced people here all share similar stories. Good luck!

Curious though .... Are you able to get down all your Water and Protein?

How long your stall has been? Are you tracking your daily calories intake ? I think you are great at 3 weeks out almost 30 lbs.

The scale will be nuts for like a month or two. when you work out are you going heavy on big muscle groups like legs and back? they are what you want bigger muscles metabolize and burn more fat..try weighted lunges and leg press workouts at the gym seated leg lifts and kicks and a minimal of 20min a day cardeo with a heart rate in the 135-150+ range. Your issue is your Water flux.give it time and focus on what will work and let your metabolism get moving and sweat as much as possible... surgery=HOPE results come from FAITH & APPLICATION..This is true in all aspects of life.

I have been working on the larger muscles (although I had no idea they burn more fat, so thanks for that info!) I think my best bet is to ignore the scale as much as I can.. I have heard that its outta whack in the beginning.. I was doing so well i was losing everyday then it just stopped!!! so thats was why im asking..

but thank you for ur encouragement and knowledge!!

liliana.. I have not been tracking my food, the most cals im getting are from my Protein shakes.. other than that im only able to eat an egg (breakfast), tuna w/light mayo (lunch) and small amount of protein for dinner( maybe a small meatball).. for snack I have some cheese.. I cant manage to get in more than a few bites so I cant even add in any fruit or veggies yet.. im working on it... and my stall has lasted about a week... I lost all that weight right before and right after surgery .. stopped about 2 weeks after surgery.

I stalled with my period for about five days. Then I dropped about three lbs from one day to the next. bizarre!

Yeah, your cycle can do this, but there's also the dreaded 3 wk stall that can last any where from days to a month or more. But stalls are unfortunately part of this journey for most of us. Just keep doing what you do, getting plenty of Protein and fluids.

That's right - mostly likely the dreaded three week stall, which hits most everyone to one degree or another. This article -

http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

gives a good explanation of what's happening. The bad news is that when you resume losing it will likely be at a somewhat slower rate, but the good news is that now it will be primarly fat, which is what we are here for in the first place. So rejoice, and enjoy the trip.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
