I've got a Dynamic Slip--Dr. C. could you comment?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just had my 1 year bandiversary on 7/27/06. 45 lbs down in a year. I'm happy about that, considering I've had a couple of bumps in the road--reflux, unfilled for a month, ie, and also I haven't really worked out very much.

Unfortunately, I had to fly down to TJ on my anniversary to get an unfill (2nd one) and I was told I have a dynamic slip. (A few months ago, I had to get an unfill for a "partial slip" that fixed itself with the unfill. Then I had a small (1.4cc) fill put in. That fill worked great for 2 months, then I had increased restriction, trouble with liquids, a little reflux, and abdominal pain, hence, I went down to TJ again on 7/27.) I was told that I need to be unfilled for at least 3 weeks, then if I want a fill, it will be no more than .8cc. IF I have anymore symptoms though, I will need band re-positioning surgery, possibly band removal surgery.

Feel great with the unfill, but not sure I can lose any weight without a fill in the band. I gained 3 lbs in a month when I was unfilled before, so I'm concerned. Want to lose 30-50 more lbs, so still need my band.

Has this happened to anyone? Dr. C., could you comment--what are my odds of keeping the band, with a small fill or even unfilled? Thank you so much!:help: Jigglypuff

If it's slipped whenever you're properly restricted, it's slipped. You can probably keep it if it stays unfilled, but it won't do you much good I'm afraid.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
