Excited/scared!

Recommended Posts

So at the beginning of the month i emailed my doctor about getting sleeved (i have kaiser) she told me she wasnt sure if kaiser even offered the sleeve and she would get back to me. Even though i already know kaiser does offer it. Well after a couple weeks of no response i thought she had forgotten about me and i kind of started thinking maybe i shouldnt follow through with it any more. Then just a few minutes ago i got an email from her saying she has signed me up for the earliest available WLS class on march 8th!! she said to let her know once i finish the class and she will refer me to a surgeon. I cant believe it was that easy i thought for sure i would need to go see her in order to get a referral. Im so excited the process is finally getting underway but scared at the same time!

Congrats! I am also a Kaiser member and was sleeved on 10-4-2011. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Best wishes and please keep us updated on your progress.

You're gonna love the Options Program, you will get so much information and make new friends too. I finished the 12 week program and am now awaiting surgery this Spring. I've already met my surgeon. Check with the Kaiser benefits team to see what your co-pay might be, it's not the same for everyone, it depends on your plan. Luckily I was fully covered with no co-pay. I've already lost alot of weight just going through the program. Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
