Trying To Figure Out Expectations...

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to see the tickers so was curious. If you are comfortable what was your high weight, surgery weight and weight two months out? It seems like many lose about forty by two months. Is the loss much higher for higher bmi patients, I'm starting around 30 bmi by surgery date? Thanks!

I've lost 40+ counting the 1 week pre-op liquid diet! My starting weight was 300 lbs and now I am 260. It has been a little over a month since my Dec 6th surgery date.

You should maybe think in terms of excess weight lost rather then number of pounds. My NUT gave me rough guidance that 2-3 months post op people should have lost 20-30% of their excess weight. Excess weight is start weight minus "ideal weight" according to the charts.. I am one month out and have lost about 24% of my excess weight already.

Wow 40 in a month! Way to go I bet you are feeling great!

Very good point about the excess weight. I was hoping for forty in about two months. I have a total of about 70 to go. I hanger not had a pre op diet really just did out on my own since getting close to my date and have taken off about twenty so far.

Thanks for the responses. I love this site. I've learned so much here!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
