My surgery is Jan 20th... I haven't seen anybody I will be sharing that surgery date with. Anyway, I am freakin out... Can everyone state their positive experiences. I see negative comments (maybe I am just focusing on them) and I am kinda scared with my surgery fast approaching. Thank you

My surgery went absolutely smoothly, as did my recovery! The first few days post-op I was more sore than I expected, but it was completely bearable. I've had no trouble keeping anything down, I've only even felt queasy a handful of times, and I don't regret doing it for a moment. I'm practically at goal, and I feel FABULOUS! You're in for such an exciting weight loss journey. Everybody's nervous before surgery, we woudn't be human if we weren't at least a little scared, but it's such a safe procedure these days. Hang in there!

My surgery went great. The most pain I had was a sore throat from the ng tube. I healed nicely and I'm doing good. The best decision I made. You will be fine. I wish you the best.

My surgery went great. I have had no complications. I was really scared as time approached, but I knew that I needed the surgery to help live a longer happier life. I don't regret any of it. So glad I got it. My worst moments were the AM of the surgery. I kept telling my husband, my son, the doc, the anesthieologist that I wanted to run. Ackowledging it helped take away the angst. You will be fine. I just went with the flo because if I changed my mind, it would have took 6 months to go through the process again, all those classes and appointments and jumpting through the hoops. I am so much happier now. Good luck on your journey. And yes, you will be fearful, but it's ok.

I had nausea and was fatigued for the first about 6 days, but no other symptoms at all. No pain. I could sleep on my stomach from day one. I was very lucky. Best of luck to you!!!

Hearing the negatives isn't really a bad thing, it will prepare you for what you may experience post op. My post op period wasn't the brightest and shiniest for a few months, for sure!!! But... here I am about 16 months out and living the DREAM!! You are welcome to peruse my photos, read my story.. all that. Questions, just holler - I'm always close by. I'm a happy lady today, and I don't regret my sleeve, not one bit!!!

That said, if your looking for other stories, check out the success stories section as well. You will see nothing but smiling faces in there. :)

I feel incredibly lucky with my surgery. It was Monday and other than the nausea the first 18 or so hours that they controlled well with meds I have felt great. I went home Tuesday afternoon and don't have any complaints. I took a few of the pain meds they gave me but not since Wednesday night. Oh, coming out of anesthisia is no picnic but it passes pretty quick.

I was scared of the surgery too...BUT...I was even more frightened of what would happen if is DIDN'T have it! I knew diabetes and high blood pressure were lurking around every corner.

I'm 8 weeks out, 36 pounds down, in a size 16 from a size 20, and loving my tiny tummy!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
