I Want Answers Now!

Recommended Posts

I just need to complain. I am such an impatient person as it is. But really I am tired of waiting to find out why I am stuggling to eat, it's just not natural to take a bite of food and be stuffed. I want to know why I burp ALL day long now. I want to know why I didn't have this issue until 10 months out?! And really, tonight, I want to know why my sleeve is on fire enough though I didn't eat anything super spicy and I took both my Nexiums and my Zantac yet my sleeve is being a mean jerk and causing me pain tonight *sigh* This feeling sucks. There isn't a nicer way to put it :/ And of course I have been reading up more on H Pylori, since that is what the drs assume is my issue and well the medications used for it intimidate me, it seems a lot of people have side effects from the meds and well that annoys me. UGH!

The last month has just been crappy and I'm ready for it to get better, too many deaths, too much drama and now too much pain. IT SUCKS!

Ok, I'm done complaining. For now anyways ;)

How long are they making you wait? Are there other tests they can you for? I hope they treat you the way you deserve to be treated after all you've been through - like a queen!!!

I wish they would treat me like a queen ;) I don't see the doctor til Friday. They said I had to wait at least 2 weeks for the results from the biopsies and that puts me at 2 1/2 weeks :/

My husband just had a problem with H pilory. He had to take an antibiotic for 10 days. You may need to do that to get your problem under control.

If it is h pylori then take the meds. I was positive when they tested me and I had to take 2 rounds of the meds to get rid of it. If you have any other questions please email me.

I sure hope that if it is h pylori it fixes these issues because it's really starting to get to me and I'm starting to feel like a freak again with the way I have to eat now :/ Thanks.

Well I finally saw my surgeon again and still no answers :/ The biopsies all came back fine. So all we know is I have gastritis. The kink I have in my sleeve might be the cause of my issues though, which is why revision is STILL on the table :( Normally a sleeve is banana shaped, mine is L shaped though. My body clearly has issues. Anyways, I have an Upper GI this week though and will see my surgeon again after that to decide what needs to be done.

On a good note he really feels he can get my panniculectomy covered, I have years worth of medical records showing issues from the excess skin, long before even considering WLS. If I need a revision the plan is to do both at the same time so at least it's only one time going under but talk about painful!

Hopefully the Upper GI gives me answers and a non surgical fix.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
