Is This For Real!?!

Recommended Posts

Okay, not to be premature... after all, I am only 6 days out from surgery ...If your an expert, please evaluate this. I started out at 308 then lost 15 on the liquid diet before surgery. After surgery. I was 312. Today I am 283. Numbers aside, I have had so much energy that I am a bit freaked out. And could it be that I am loving my mile daily walks? I am struggling every day just to discern all these new physical sensations. Hunger, fullness, gas, pain, all feel different. And now I am going into emotional overdrive because I can't believe that I have all this energy and am already wearing some of my old clothes. So, seeing 2 anything on the scale is like proof that I must be tripping. I don't want to Jinks it. What part of the game is this?

Yes it's real. Congrats on the weight loss and being able to walk a mile already. Sounds like you are doing well. Have you thought of keeping a journal or blog of your weight loss journey? Lots of people do that to record all of the myriad of feelings they experience during the process.

Best of luck to you.

Sharon

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
