Does everyone have trouble eventually?I have the info pack but i cant decide whether to send it back or not?I would love to be able to lose the 115 lbs that i need to.But on the other hand i would hate to have so many problems also.I work 11 hour days most days.Would the surgery interfer with that?If it did im not sure it would be worth it.I see all the problems everyone else is having and it scares me.Would you all do it again?Do the seminars help you decide? thx for any help you all give me im not criticizing anyone im just trying to make an informed decision.:help: patty

I had my surgery on Wednesday May 31st, I was back at work on Tuesday. No pain what so ever, I did not have to take any pain meds. I have lost 37#'s so far. I would do it again in a heartbeat! I am sure you will find more people on here who would say the same. It should not interfer with your work schedule, just take something you can eat to work with you. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide!

Not sure what you mean by "trouble". MAYBE everyone has trouble of some kind eventually - don't really know since the band has only been in the US for a handful of years. Maybe 50 years from now we'll all have problems. Unlikely, but no one can say for sure. What I asked myself was, "Would it still be worth it?" Answer was yes, so under I went.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't work 11 hours a day, once healed from surgery. The band doesn't sap your energy or do anything to make 11 hours difficult to get through.

For those of us in our 40's, you tend NOT to bounce back from the surgery as quickly as the younger people do. I am an RN and work 12 hour shifts and also attend post-graduate school full-time. I needed 8 days off from work to recover to the point where I was able to work.

It took about 2.5 weeks to get my pre-surgery energy level back. You'll be back to work quickly... just don't push the recovery too fast.

I am only banded 16 days but I feel wonderful and have since day 4. I would imagine that losing some of the 115 pounds you say you need to loose would only boost your energy, make your job so much easier. I've only lost 21 pounds and you can't believe the difference. I know that the problem rate is very low for problems so I don't know what you mean by that. I'll bet that 99 % of everyone on here would do it again.

Good luck on your decision.

My band=buddy has been banded 4 years and no problems. Just one time some food got stuck and she PB'd. She's kept her weight off and is careful about what she eats, follows the rules. She looks fantatic.

I on the other had had complications but there is no way I could have lost the weight on my own so I would do it again. I hope my complication days are over.

When I rode a bike for the first time in 8 years, I cried it was so joyful!

You will be blown away by how great you feel six months down the track. I cannot believe the energy I have now, nor did I realise at the time how far I'd sunk into inactivity. I can just keep going and going and going these days.

I've put a lot of work into getting fitter too and once you get past the point where it tires you out, it just makes you feel on top of the world.

I would get the band again IN A HEART BEAT!!! Even if I lost my band tomorrow (oh please God no) I would still think it was all worth it!

I am a preschool teacher of 30 three year olds and I was back to work the following week of surgery. I would have gone back sooner but it was Thanksgiving and the school was closed.

Send that packet in! Go to some seminars! Go talk to a surgeon! Keep researching.

I have been banded for over a year and a half an have had no complication at all. (fingers are staying crossed)

Good luck!! :)

I'm 2 years out and I have not had any issues. I had one small unfill, and I'd had my fill for like 8 months, and just suddenly got tighter. I believe it was stress.

Should YOU have the band surgery? Only you--if honest with yourself--will be able to figure that out. Do you eat "too much" at three meals a day...or do you graze and eat most of the time? What is your relationship with sweets?

Those things may impact how successful banding would be for you. The surgery itself is a relative piece-of-cake. The immediate post-op time can require numerous band adjustments or may require NO band adjustments. People can move along with no problems and their friends can have real issues.

Read what others have been through, good and bad, and choose what's best for you.

Oh...one other thing. Do you have the resources for the required follow-up for whatever wls you choose? I'm picky and spend a good deal on Vitamins and supplements because I had the band removed and now have the DS. DS people HAVE TO HAVE special Vitamins and supplements. Band people HAVE TO HAVE adjustments and they CAN cost quite a bit. (Up to $800-1000 per adjustment at the big city hospitals with fluroscopy.) If you haven't factored in the aftercare costs, it would be a good idea to do so.

Again...a few people need NO adjustments. But in the first two years I had my band, I had about a dozen. Ka-CHING!!!

Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
