I was going crazy at 4 days out because I just wanted to CHEW. It does get better, especially as you get to progress thru the food stages. When I went to puree/mushee...I made a big ol' bowl of guacamole and loved every last little bite. Best guacamole of my life!hungry.gif

i craved watermelon so bad & i had it. i made sure there were no seeds and i definitely enjoyed!

Seriously though peeps.....I'm still waiting for surgery, and right now I can still eat what I'm craving, and I have to say I am miserable. If I'm going to be miserable over food, I can't wait for it to be in the getting skinny direction. I sat in 2 different restaurants today where I didn't fit in the chair or booth. Where is the joy in that life?? To top it off, my hiatal hernia ....herniated....or whatever it does....this morning, so when I do eat, it's extra unpleasant. When you're having a tough time with the craving, try your hardest to remember what indulging your cravings made you feel like. That instant regret (at least for me). Not to be a downer or anything, but really. I've got the food world at my feet and I can't buckle my seatbelt. Nothing tastes that good.

You're doing great!! Focus on how good that tastes!!

ouuuuuch! well the good thing is, the "cravings" post op arent crazy! like yes, u would like to but they dont drive u insane or make you turn into the devil if you dont get it. its more of a desire & thought. its mental, not physical. before surgery, its mental, physical, emotional & all that. it wouldve been like taking crack from a crackhead. lol.

and its different when u can have it & when you cant. i had food funerals like crazy but didnt go everywhere that i shouldve. i only went to my main favs OVER AND OVER!!!

i forgot to add virgin strawberry daq, nachos from cheesecake factory & cheese fries from outback & bread from outback to my cravings!!!! mmmmm

Ahhh yes the Chinese Buffet....oh how I wanted to believe I could eat that. Oh my husband and I went there. He woofed down 3-4 plates while I slowly nibbled 3-4 bites. I was sad at first but then it occurred to me how sad and miserable I would feel after I ate 3-4 plates in my past. I thought of those moments of clarity when I knew that most of my overeating was just stuffing emotions and creating my chubby layer of protection from those who had hurt me in my past and may prevent others from hurting me in the future. I could then see that my sleeve was giving me the time to think about my food and the feelings attached. In the past it was just a frenzy of stuffing food in fast to get the false sense of control and protection. What I learned is when I chew slowly and mindfully now that I have the sleeve, I am aware of the fact that my food is fuel. Everyone is different but that is how I transitioned out of head hunger. Best wishes and big hugs!

I had head hunger pretty bad the first few weeks post op but now I don't get it that often. It does get better as you can eat a wider variety of foods. The times I have had something I shouldn't have, it wasn't that good and I felt really guilty afterwards so I pretty much stick to the plan.

I love to go out to dinner with my family or friends. Now I'm realizing that even though my mind is telling me how delicious the food tastes, my reality check is when I take a bite, it doesn't taste anywhere the way I imagined it would take. I have decided that I will be eating out less often, and staying focused on Protein, protein, and protein with a little carbs. cleaning all the junk from the holidays out of my house today! Can't wait to get started. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy. ;)

5 days post op and I do feel the same way! I have been so sick to my stomach with the pain meds and not having anything in my stomach, but in my head I keep thinking if I could only have something small to help me out. Ugh...I know that it takes time. I am not nearly as depressed as I was when I had the lap band and felt like I would never eat again. I now know that I will eventually.

Well, it's good to know the cravings are bearable! Ha! food funerals. Ya, I guess that's what I'm doing. Said so long to Krispy Kreme the other day. Donuts are my downfall. I'm PRAYING that they will be repulsive to me after the surgery. Sounds like that's a possibility. I'm ready.

the good thing is, when u r finally able to "eat" again, there will be nothing wrong with snacking here & there! this surgery will not stop my life & make me "diet" forever. im going to make wiser & healthier choices but i will never fight myself on whether i should take a bite out of adonut. ur small tummy will let u enjoy your bite or 2 of ur donut.

somethings do repulse me that didnt before. my mom does her DELICIOUS potato salad that the family loves!!!!! i came out my bedroom & smelled it coming from the kitchen & i gagged!!!! absolutely gross! i pray to one day like the smell & taste but for now, she needs to not make anymore. lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
