Carbs In After A Workout As Well

Recommended Posts

I've been back to the gym for a few weeks now and it's been six weeks since my surgery. I also have a lot of fat to lose, but want to keep or build back up muscle and strength. I've avoided simple carbs and sugar for the most, but still take some in with my Protein after my workouts, which is essential to recovery and will not be stored as fat, goes directly to the muscles. Here's some articles I found that may be helpful. For the non-diebetics, adding simple carbs like dextrose (glucose) may actually help with our workouts if taken right after the workout and only right after. Just some thoughts.......

Yeah, that was my favorite too. Just got back from the gym, and drank a Gatorade with unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. Got the dextrose sugar and Protein in. Gotta tell ya, after a hard workout, I'm not craving a bunch of sweet drinks. I could just go for Water, but I need the dextrose and Protein and I think it will help me get my strength back.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
