Recommended Posts

Ok, i had my surgery 11/09/11, and got out of the hospital yesterday,11/11/11.i'm on the cleat liquid diet for a few days and i'm having trouple getting the fluids in.my stomach keeps cramping and making noises like i'm hungry, and i really don't know if i am hungry or it's just my mind. All this food i see on tv and ad's is driving me crazy!!!Anyways, i can't stant the Isopure at all, but i am loving my sf banana popsicles :) i have no problem eating a whole popsicle in one sitting, and i thought that after surgery i would only be able to eat just a little of it,Am i suppose to be able to eat a whole on at once, should i slow down what? also is there any other way to get Protein in this stage besides isopure? thanks

Yes this is all normal. the grumbling belly is most likely gas from the surgery or acid tummy. If you doc perscribed an anti acid then take it if not tell him/her about it and see if it's ok to take one. Mine prescribed it from the beginning so I never had issues with this. to get rid of the gas walk walk walk. The popsicle is liquid and liquids go down smooth and quick because they empty from the tummy quick. Once you start eating solid foods or mushies you will see the restriction. You are doing great! Keep it up!!!

A popsicle is just frozen Fluid. You will feel the restriction when eating semi-solids and maybe when drinking fluids. I could drink only about 1 oz. every 15 minutes for the first few days after surgery. I bet the popsicle isn't much more than one ounce and that it takes you about 15 minutes to lick it away, so that sounds about right.

As for Protein, it depends on what your program allows. When I came home, I tolerated powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Protein the best. You must order it on the Internet, it is not available in stores. I also ate a little greek yogurt and drank soy milk mixed with whey Protein powder.

It sounded like I had a Mac truck in my belly and I had diarrhea the first couple of weeks. All pretty normal.

Rest and rejoice: You are on your way!

Take your time, you can drink broths, slimfast, and take pepcide. Will power, Water, and walking. Small sips so you won't get dehydrated. Yogurt, jello's, cottage cheese, and make sure they are sugar free. Just take your time and talk with your support group. SOmeone is always there to help you.

I went through the same thing too. My favorite was beef & chicken broth. My family thought I was crazy when I told them how good the broth was! I just savored every sip! I found 2 kinds of Liquid Protein that I dilute with Water & freeze til just slushy. One I found at Walmart & has 26 grams of Protein & the other has 42 grams of protein & I found that at Meijer's. You can probably purchase them online too. First was by Body Fortress & the other was New Whey. I have also found Gas-X strips help with the gas & bloating! I do whey Protein Powder mixed with Fat-free milk & ice in the blender. The colder the better I have found! I aslo use Ocean Spray sugar-free powder drink mix(Cran-Pomegranate)in my water as water gets real boring. Or try Crystal Light. Good luck.

I couldn't tolerate the Isopure, it just grossed me out too much. I will admit to having a terrible time with Clear Liquids and I know I was only getting enough Protein in when I moved on to full liquids. I wouldn't worry too much about eating a whole popsicle. They had me doing that before I even left the hospital. I found these awesome sugar free italian ices that were acceptable with my clear liquids and that helped me out a lot. They kinda felt like I was actually eating something of substance. Good luck! You will get there.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
