Inbetween sizes... *sighs*

Oh well...

I thought I would treat myself to a new pair of work trousers... I only have one pair that fits me and they are really lose and baggy... I can just about get away with them with a belt!

So, I popped into my shop on the way home and bought a pair of UK 14 trousers... nothing fancy, just a plain black pair for work. I got home, feeling a little excited, feeling that they are bound to fit me nice.... alas, I was wrong! I honestly thought I was going to write a size goal post today...* weeps silenty*

Ok.. so I did them up, got in them - but there is NO WAY I can wear them out in public...

Feeling a little gutted and frustrated now! This belly fat is really tough; resisting all efforts that I try to rid it!

I am not chanting... 'I will do this.... I can do this' - repeat as often as possible!

OOOPs! ... should read... I AM CHANTING...lol... see!! that is how frustrated I am!! =]

Coops. I know exactly how you feel. I am slowly running out of clothes to wear. But, I still hate to try clothes on. Probably a carryover from when I had trouble finding anything that fit right. Now it seems I am between sizes and that is frustrating also. I can wear 16's and 18's. Down from 22/24. This is fabulous but so hard to go to work each day wearing pants that fit and shirts that billow in the wind. I hit my local thrift shop last weekend and found a black skirt and some khaki slacks for around $7 total. That was nice. Unfortunately, you really have to dig through to find quality items and I wasn't able to find anything additional I could use.

I am hoping to put off buying majorly until I am closer to my goal. I constantly stall for 2 weeks and then drop 5 lbs. So, overall I am close to 4.5 pounds a week loss and almost 1/2way to goal. So I am trying to stay focused.

Story of my life, except it always on the bottom half. I am like a size 14 on top but a 16 or 18 on bottom depending on the pants. I am hoping one day I will even out.

I know how frustrating that can be. I have slid into many cute pairs of pants that look great on my thighs and butt only to button them and POW there is tons of belly flab. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I do feel your pain.

I recently bought a pair of super cute bright pink pajama pants, I bought XL cuz I like them baggy and comfy, well they fit so good. When we went back to the store I saw another cute pair of bright purple ones with stars so I grabbed an XL and when I got home they were very tight. I was so upset and sad.

The nice thing is that eventually they will fit. Determination and hard work and in no time your pants will be looking FAB on you. They may even end up being way too big before you even know it. You never know.

From looking at you ticker it looks like you have done an amazing job. Don't let one pair of pants bring you down, keep your chin up girl it will all be fine. (((hugz)))

Thanks for your replies... Isn't it a pain in the butt!! Even when I was bigger I had the same problem. When I was young and a proper pear, I was UK10-12 tops UK 14 bottom, sometimes a 12!!! Now, it is all around the middle!!

Honestly, I wish I could afford to get it all sucked out and cut off... then the trousers would look lovely...lol

I wish they did a half size like they do in clothes!!!

I suppose I can always use them as a goal item? I don't have any clothes to 'get into now' ... could be the motivation I need to ramp it up? I dunno...

Coops...Smile Doll...It will be okay...since we have lost weight our bodies fit into clothes all kinda crazy. If I wear pants that actually fit..I am sporting a muffin top. If I wear bottoms that do not put my muffin top on display, My legs are swimming in them..I have to tell you that I look like a school child that finally dressed them selves. So the magic here is compression .....I have found compression tops to scale back the sexy muffin top....lol Dont feel bad at all hang those babies on a hanger in your bathroom so that you can see them everyday...Pick that frown up...all of our bodies are doing crazy things....I try to find the humor when I can, this is what gets me through the day :banghead:

I totally fee ya coops...some of my slacks are loose in the butt area but fit it the waste, OR the other way around big in the waist and fit in the butt. I am not use to wearing a belt or getting my clothes tailored but I guess that's the answer (or get butt implants LOL)...the MAIN thing is that I'm not wearing my BIG MAMA clothes any longer, and I will take ill fitting clothes over THAT ANY DAY :)...HUGS my friend :)

Most department stores carry them, target, Walmart, and higher end like Macys... if you need a bigger size to get you though, Lane Bryant. I can even still wear some of my bigger ones... they are so stretchy... but probably need to get new ones soon to really get the job done right! You can get them on line too. I have even found them at Ross and thrift stores.

Funny how a size or two used to NOT matter, who cared if there was a few inches of fabric flopping around? NOW it makes a BIG difference and I find that just one or two sizes to big and I'm swimming in them!

I seem to be a mens USA medium and a half top now (which doesn't exist) , most larges are too big and mediums a tad too tight. I usually go with the larges - I like to show off my new figure but I like to breath too!

Lissa,

Since our bodies are changing so rapidly, I try to save where I can. I usually find my compression tops at Ross. You will find them around were the ladies underclothes are at. I found 2 compression tops for 5.99 that is a deal. I refuse to spend lots of $$ since I do not know how long I will actually fit into them, so I shop at Ross alot...lol If you do not have a Ross in your area check Marshalls too!

I am soooo glad that I am not alone with this. I really don't want to buy the bigger size, just in case I manage to get rid of the last 10lb to my surgeon's goal! But, in saying that... the weather here has really changed for the worst, and winter is setting in. Don't get me wrong, I love wearing dresses to work now... but I know that soon it is going to be too cold for a dress; even a winter one!! I might venture out and try another pair of UK14 trousers in a different shop...

The compression thing might also be a good idea... You are right SleeveStalker... pesky muffin top!! lol

OK, so for once I took my own advise... I bought another pair of size 14s...different shop, different shape and *drum roll please*#

THEY %$^*$ING FIT ME!!!!! I am sooooooo happy! Size 14 trousers, that I can do up, wear out and sit down in!!!

Lesson to be learnt, it ain't so much the size as the STYLE... I have to learn, yet again, what fits and suits my 'shape' as opposed to my 'size'!

I love my sleeve!!!

I so understand that it is the cut and style and not the number I should be concerned with. I am varying any where from a size 8 to 12 in pants. I am a solid size 14 on top. The girls just don't want to shrink with the rest of me. I am now only 5 lbs from my personal goal. I would probably be a size 4 or 6 if I could afford the Tummy Tuck but most likely that will never happen. Try not to think of the size of pants but how you feel overall.

Oh coops, so glad you found a good style for you, I totally feel your pain with the first pair though, I am always stuck between sizes! I tend to always wear, compression stuff too as it gives a smoother outline, my wardrobe essentials are a couple of elasticated body suits from M&S, and an elasticated under-dress from la senza. I think they were around £20 each, but I feel under dressed without one now, so worth every penny to me. xx

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
