So I couldn't really find what the NUTS say.

At one month you can eat this.

At six months you can eat that

How do you know how much you can officially eat. How do you test it.

I just eat until I am satisfied, but I don't measure.

Sometimes it is more and sometimes it is less.

I have been scared of losing too much, and I know my body well enough to know that this is a strong possibility for me.

What foods are calorie dense and still good for you?

I still have not even started to work out which has to start sometime VERY SOON so I will be looking to add more calories, but I still really only like to eat the foods the mush up in my mouth.

I don't know how much I can "officially" eat and I don't want to know. I eat measured portions and track calories, carbs, Protein, and Water. Somedays I eat less than what I measured but I don't eat more. If I want more, I wait, have some water, take a walk, read a book--and then if I am still hungry I have some apple slices or an Oh Yeah! stick or some Jerky. The mushy foods for me are full of carbs so I stick with things like 3 large scallops, or 2.5 oz of steak, or 1 egg. If you are afraid that you are losing too much, you can always add in calories of mush--avocado, tuna or chicken salad, chili, meatballs, pulled pork. Since you are five months post-op, you should be able to try anything now. See what works for you but I recommend staying away from the mushy stuff.

Sad to say I have yet to measure out any of my food. Like you I don't know how much I can officially eat, but I have pushed the envelope several times. Things that I don't think should fill me up as much as they do, do and then I'm miserable. However, when I eat carbs, it seems to take longer for me to get full...go figure. No worries though. My intentional bad carb eating days are behind me. Getting a food scale is on my To Do List. So is measuring out a serving. Calorie dense foods that are great sources of Protein are shrimp (1 large is 9 grams of protein), and talipia. I think 1 piece or a serving is 90 or less calories and 20 grams of protein.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
