Is 8 months out too late?

Recommended Posts

Hey there sleeve buddy Ali, I think we were only a day apart with dr. Rod, so I've always followed your journey. Congrats on 100 lbs!!! I'm so close behind you : )

I think that as long as you can get your head in the right place, our lovely little stomaches will just follow along.

So what? You've taken a little time off your plan.... Just jump back on the band wagon. I had some time there of slowed loss. But I also found that as soon as I started tracking my food again it got way better.

Keep your head held high and believe in yourself!!!

Cheers ; )

The sleeve gave us the tool to do what we thought was impossible. Now that we know it is possible if you slip, you still have that tool. Stay strong and go back to the basics of what you have learned. You are not starting over, but continuing on in your journey. I have no doubt that you will make it no matter how long it takes. Stay strong!

I'm just eight months out myself. I don't think it's over at all! I stalled for a couple of months, but recently started losing again. And I am NOT recommending anyone follow my example, but I don't do the gym at all (for several good reasons), so the only exercise I get is walking (quite a bit). You can do less than ideal things and still lose weight, so don't lose heart!! You've been doing awesome, you just need to believe in yourself. :)

MustangAli - we are sleeve sisters, too. I just celebrated my 8th month. I agree with all of the above posts - it is never too late to start again. And, all of the above posts are right on and give good advice.

The thing I would like to add is a way to get some help with the criticism you are giving yourself. I recommend hypnosis. It is the best way to "reprogram" your head to change long held beiefs about yourself. Your issues now aren't weight - they are some old tapes about yourself that you are playinging. Those are as hard to get rid of (or harder) than all the other bad habits we have had to change. If you find a trained hypnotist and tell him/her what your situation is, they can tailor a hypnosis session to address your issues. If the hypnotist is willing, he/she could make a hypnosis CD to have you listen to on your own to further reinforce your new "self-talk". I believe in hypnosis - and for a trained engineer - that was quite a leap. I have used hypnosis and was impressed with the changes it made in me. If you can't find a hypnostist - let me know - I know several and would help you out.

Best of luck to you.

Sharon

I totally agree, and I'm also a major skeptic when it comes to woo-woo stuff. I don't have a hypnotist, I've only been using a hypnotically written book that comes with a CD that I use, I can't believe the difference it makes. This is the book that I love. This is another one my friend swears by. Highly recommend!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
