I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

Recommended Posts

Liz' date=' how are you doing?[/quote']

I'm having some issues with drain site and a fever so eating is becoming a chore. I don't enjoy it at all right now. And my meds make me sleep a lot so my Fluid intake is low. But I can honestly say I've been worse. I may go to the ER tomorrow for fluids and to have my drain site cultured again. A birthday present to myself haha.

:(

Well Happy Birthday...next birthday you will need to Celebrate twice to make up for this birthday!!

Those meds dehydrate you too so going in for a birthday bag of fluids is a wise decision.

Demand for them to give you some versed (sp?) in your iv for your birthday lol my anesthesiologist told me its like the fun of 10 margaritas without the calories or hangover.

I hope the culture comes back ok!

Youre in my thoughts <3

I just wanted to come give a little update - it has been almost a year since my leak healed. I am loving my sleeve. I am at my goal weight for about 4 months now, continuing to lose a little here and there. I thankfully haven't had any more problems since it healed. Miraculously my sleeve works just perfect since it healed - no problem with Vitamins, Protein, anything. It was a real struggle going through the whole ordeal but I am so thankful for my health today, 130 lbs lighter and so much energy. I feel wonderful.

That's great news! I sometimes feel a little guilty over how easy this has been for me, while others have suffered... I just wish all the sufferers a quick and complete recovery!

Just read this whole thread. Great to see a happy ending! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
