When you started eating normal foods, how much?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, been having tons of sleeve problems, but just trying to figure out if I am making myself sick by eating too much... How much were you guys eating at the stage I am in?

What exactly does it feel like when you overeat? Has anyone had a very quick pain (maybe 5 seconds) as if something is stuck even when you have chewed very thoroughly?

No Dietary Restrictions?

Wow!

I was on full liquids of 3 Protein drinks and 2 yogurts for the first four weeks. Today is 5 weeks exactly Post Op. I'm on one mushy meal a day. I'm at about 500-600 calories a day. Once back on 'regular' food, I am not to go over 700 calories. No red meat for 3-6 months because it's hard to digest.

Are you seeing a nutristionist?

How many calories a day are you consuming? What's your average 'food' day?

I am eating all normal foods now at about 10 weeks out. I have been since about 6 weeks. I eat very slowly. A normal meal is half an english muffin with Peanut Butter, 1/2 can of tuna with miracle whip and 4 crackers, 1/2 banana, 1/3 of a frozen entre like a lean cuisine, 1 poached egg with haldfa slice of toast, etc. I spread the meal out over 20 mins of time. I have no problems now, but at 1 month out I got the slimes like 3 or 4 times.

I'm about 8 weeks out & would agree with the portion sizes that nurselisa listed. If you eat too much and/or too fast you'll know it because it hurts in a very uncomfortable sort of way. Take your time & eat slow & you will be able to tell when you are getting full much easier, when you eat fast it just hits you all of the sudden & its not a very nice place to be in.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
