Poll: Would you have the VSG again?? Yes No and why

Recommended Posts

I would say YES! I just wish I had it done sooner. I also wish I would have it done first instead of the band.

Feed your eye:

That's a pretty drastic statement. I trust you can back it up???

I just read a thread on here (in the last week) that talked about several cases... I'll see if I can find it again.

This is the post I based my comment on. You can contact the posters for more info.

100% yes, I would have it again! I have never felt better or been as small as I am in my life (well probably pre-teen years, but can't remember them). I also do not have an appetite almost 1 year out, nor do I get cravings. This has been the best thing I have done with the exception of marrying my hubby and having my kids!

Of course! Best thing I ever did. Almost 23 months out! Your restrictions do start changing though at about 18 months.

I would do it over in a heartbeat! I'll be 4 months out tomorrow and down 77lbs. I'm only 24 and I'm so glad I did this early in life so I can enjoy he rest of my life with my husband and kids!

I'm 4 days away from being out 6 months (surgery April 18). YES I'd do it again in a New York minute. WHY? 1. Long-term health--no more "trending up" blood pressure and blood sugar. 2. Check the ticker--down 90 pounds. NINETY freaking pounds that I will never see again--and more to drop!!! 3. Wearing cute clothes! I'm wearing leggings today--I feel like shouting that--because I have NEVER worn leggings before. EVER. 4. Travel for work is no longer embarrassing or a potential source of stress. It's pleasant--I fit in the plane and rental cars easily. 5. Not being treated like the invisible fat woman--people actually make eye contact and smile now!
Awesome, I am inspired. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! No doubt! I have lost 75 lbs so far since the start of this journey. Like may others, blood work is better than ever. EVER. Everything is in the normal range. I have never seen that. Doc took me completely of cholesterol meds. A1c at 4.95. What diabetes?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
