Pre-surgery diet started today!

Today was the first day of my pre-surgery diet. My surgery is scheduled for October 19th at the Puget Sound Surgical Centre down in Seattle. I live in the far north, Yukon Territory so I will be traveling a ways for this surgery.

First day has been killer! My diet is 1600 calories and with only 40g of carbs. I have 3 more hours until I go to bed and I know this is going to be the tough part!

Hang in there, you can do it. One benefit of surgery is the part of stomach removed is the part that produces the hormones for hunger. After surgery you may not even want to see food for awhile.

I haven't had surgery yet but I am a volume eater so I feel for you. I would eat mini meals throughout the day(plan them on myfitnesspal.com), drink 70 ounces of water/Powerade zero/tea, take strolls to waste time & go to bed early.

Please share what you have been doing & best wishes. :)

Good Morning!

I am using myfitnesspal as well. What an easy to use site to track everything!

I tried to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible yesterday. I also tried to keep my hands busy by sewing, reading books and chasing after my two little boys. But the evening was so hard! My husband has to travel for work this week and I know I am going to struggle. I see a lot of early bedtimes in my future!

I use a food journal too but I prefer to write everything down with a pen. Try and keep yourself as busy as possible. My bf and I have started playing monopoly on Wii. He completely munches out while we play tho, I on the other hand grab a flavored Water and some SF popsicles. I feel like I am munching out but really I'm not lol. But by playing the game I am busy. I also have been reading a lot on my droid. I download books like crazy. I am a snacker and a volume eater so I am training myself to not do that during Tv time and reading time. I am on day 4. The days get easier and harder at the same time I think. Just keep looking toward your surgery date.

Also, come on here a lot! I am always on here now. It keeps me super occupied and I love reading and responding to everyones posts. =]
