I not only researched to death I waited an extra year for my insurance to cover the sleeve. I wish I hadn't had to wait but I'm very glad I did. Luckily I used some of that time to drop from close to 330 to somewhere near 300 for the surgery.

I'm one of those rare "doesn't happen" people who experiences dumping. I've had a sweet thing 3 times in 6 months and they darned near killed me. shakes, sweats, just overall ready to vomit feeling for about 2 hours. I can't imagine how bad it would have been with r-n-y. Thankfully, I don't have much of an issue with sweets so I can work around it. But once that happened the first time on a relatively small amount of sugar, I absolutely knew I'd have been a major dumper with bypass and having dropped from busting out of a size 26W last October, to surgery in early April to a loose size 18W today...yes, I am very happy with my choice!

If you could go back and have a different type of WLS, would you? Do you wish you would have done the DS or the RNY?? noidea.gif

Lap Band: Yes (obvious, as I did go back and do a different surgery).

Sleeve: No.

I have no desire to revise to any other WLS any further at this point. Depends on how my health is doing in the future. As for now, me and my sleeve are doing quite well together.

So far, so good, and no regrets. I won't know for several years (hopefully) whether the DS with its better regain resistance would have been a better choice, but all indications pre-op and so far post-op (75+% to goal in about 4 1/2 months) were that the VSG was the way to go for me.

No chance at all that I would have switched my surgery...I'm happy with my sleeve. I did all my research and felt 100% confident that the sleeve was the right choice for me.

I love my sleeve, I would only consider getting something else if I gain all the weight back that I lost on the sleeve... unlikely.

Never. When I heard about VSG, it was like meeting The One. It just felt right and I could never bring myself to do one of the other surgeries though I researched them for years. I would do the VSG again, 100%.

I've lost 82 lbs in about 4 months and I feel GREAT! I have only 53 lbs to goal of 185. This was the best decision I have EVER made for myself. Would do it again in a heartbeat! I am so glad my surgeon recommended this to me instead of RNY because I was going to do whatever he felt best. He said "I think the sleeve would be best for you" and I said "okay then". After I researched it I knew it was the right decision!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
