So so frustrated and feeling like a failure

Recommended Posts

I had my revision all in one surgery on July 14th. Did good the first ten days out, lost 15. Then the hunger set in. After reading on here about an acid blocker, I went back on the one sent home with me after surgery, didn't help. Moved on to nexium, nope no luck, am now on to OTC proposed, two pills, totally 40mg a day. Am still feeling the knowing feeling in my stomach. You know like how iy feels when you realize you've gone too long without eating.I have to stay under 1000 calories a day and still no weight loss, I can go for about a week before breaking down and just eating. That's the other problem too, I am feeling no restriction what so ever. This is my second was surgery and I feel like such a failure.

I know how you're feeling. I broke down today and nibbled on half a baby Bel light, just to feel full! One thing I keep forgetting though, and I hope it helps us both....

We felt hunger when we're really just thirsty. Try drinking a little more.

In the meantime- no failure!!! It's a mind game, and one that we can win!!!

Mindy, have you discussed with your surgeon and / or nutritionalist?

I have found that eating frequent meals throughout the day kept me feeling good . I still eat 5 to 6 times a day. It helps with the acid, keeps me energized, and keeps me from eating too much in one sitting.

What types of foods are you eating? I stick to low carb, except for oatmeal. If I eat bread, my acid kicks up something fierce. The first couple of months is all about experimenting to see what foods are good to your new tummy.

I eat full fat cheese every day, yogurt, whole grain crackers, granola, and lots of chicken (with the skin!!).

Hang in there - it gets better!

I, too, find that sometimes when I feel hungry, I'm actually thirsty. Also, when I eat carbs, I crave carbs! They are nasty little demons! Good luck! It takes a while to figure out what works for you!

An update on where I am at. I finally lost 2lbs this week. My surgeon has been awesome, she calls me each monday to help keep me motivated. I saw her 2 weeks ago and am due back on Oct 10th. We did the body mass thing when I was there two weeks ago. Am fatter now then I was in Dec 2010. I have lost lean muscle mass. I am now wearing weights on my ankles at work. I am a Store manager for LB and walk and stand all day.. think that has helped. She really wants me running, but I have always been scared of that. Am clumsy and have bad ankles...do not want to stumble and sprain. I am doing about 10 min on the elippical in the morning to start my metabolism and trying to walk at least 2miles each night after my child goes to sleep. (gramma lives with me so I can go do that without leaving him alone). Was strange this week.. I was doing really good.. getting in the Protein and even upped my Water to 120 oz., nothing was happening, then I went to an out of town meeting and blew my routine.. had way too many carbs and then lost the first lb... whats up with that.. I have also added in chromiun pic. to my pill regimen and am starting b6 today (heard that from someone at medi weight loss) we shall see how this next day goes...thank you all for your support... it really does help.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
