My new beginning

Recommended Posts

hey my name is Sabrina and I am 5 days post op. I am trying to get used to how my stomach feels but its hard. can anyone tell me what they felt after they got the sleeve within the first week? I just recently developed diarrhea yesterday, is that normal? The gas is not as bad as it was but still when i drink anything my stomach tightens up and feels like i have acid reflux my stomach rumbles and i burp. Im actually really hungry too but im scared to try any full liquids like Soup or anything. I still have my drip bag in my stomach and its getting removed tuesday, can anyone tell me how that feels when its removed? Ive also been a little dizzy/lightheaded and somewhat nauseous. I kno i have a lot of questions but if anyone can help that would be great :)

Sorry to hear you are having so many negative symptoms. I would call your dr because you have quite a few things going on. It is nice to talk to your dr and check in when there are so many problems early on. Good luck.

That all sounds fine for 5 days out. I feel totally normal now. It's all temporary-keep doing the best you can. I didn't have a drain so I can't comment on that.

Dizzy and lightheadedness may be related to the pain meds? I hope it subsides soon and you are feeling better. I didn't have any tubes to be removed so I couldn't answer that one. I have read people having them removed and seen advice like take a deep breath right before and breathe it out as it comes out. I hope you feel better soon.

HI !

I am 5 months out and remember feeling nausious and lightheaded. You just went through major surgery, and this will all pass. Just keep on taking little sips often. You have a new tummy and it needs to heal and get used to things. You probably aren't really hungary but hungary in your head. I often say they do not do surgery on our heads and alot of what happens is thinking we need to eat. The tube does not hurt coming out at all, at least mine didn.t . You will be ok , I am glad you will be seeing the surgeon on Tuesday. Talk to them. Peace of Mind means alot.

I'm 9 days out. I still get the cramping. Especially while drinking. I l burp a lot too. My Dr. Said that will get better as I get used to swallowing with my new stomach. The dizziness will improve. Its just your body adapting. I didn't have a drain so I can't help there. Good luck.

Hi I'm Dina and Tuesday I will be 6 weeks post-op...

(

The hard stomach might be due to the gas they pumped into your stomach for surgery so yeah for the burps. I had pain and nausea until he removed my 'bomb' aka drip bag on day 2. For the first month I took Prilosec (not sure of spelling) to help with the stomach acids. Remember no straws for 6 months, don't talk for 15 seconds after your take your sips that adds air to you stomach. You should be on Clear Liquids still only what you can see through like Jello, broth, Water. everything should be room temperature not hot or cold. When you have it removed like I read on here take a deep breath and it will be gone, matter of fact take a deep breath close your eyes and it'll be out. Make sure you are walking every hour,,,walk, walk, walk as my Dr. always said... Make sure you keep notes and take them to the Dr with you so you don't forget

I cant comment on most of your symptoms, the other ladies seemed to have done great with that anyway but I am a nurse. The drain shouldnt be any problem to get out. We pull them out quickly and I have never had anyone complain! I promise it is really simple!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
