8/25 and home

Recommended Posts

Good Morning to all! I was sleeved on Aug. 25th. Everything went well. They removed a hiatial hernia also. In recovery one of the nurses pissed me off, telling me I can groan or moan there were other people in there too. I hadnt been so out of it I might have done something to here. I h=kept telling her I felt sick and she took forever to do anything about it so i pucked. So he had to clean my puke up and chage my gown. I was a sleepyhead that whole day practiaclly. I walked later that evening. Friday and Saturday was better. Had the test to make sure there wasnt a leak or snything and all was fine. They took the drain out on Saturday. It felt like they were pulling my insides out. Now I have gauze on that site. Those of you that had drains removed in the hospital, once home when did you take the gauze/bandage off tthe site? I am having issues gettin gin my fluids but I am working on. I know how important it is to stay hydrated. I am so thankful everything went well. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. WOW ! I am finally sleeved.

Thanks for checking! I bet that nurse will be listening more closely next time someone says they are feeling sick

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
