I got my sleeve this morning at 10 AM. The surgery went well and recovery so far hasn't been bad. The only pain I am feeling is from the drain and even then it is more sore than painful. I have been having issues with nausea. I have a tendency to feel nauseas from anesthesia but I am allergic to zofran (which seems to be a great drug). Dr. aceves says he hasn't encountered someone with this allergy so he using other meds on me. Earlier today I had a hard time when I sat on the side of the bed and actually dry heaved when I walked. The doctors told me it was ok to take it slow so there hasn't been a lot of pressure on me to go visit my neighbors until tomorrow.

I did wake up a few minutes ago and was able to sit up, walk myself to the bathroom, and walk around my room a bit. It is a sign I am doing better and I will take it! I have my dye test in the morning and then I will be allowed liquids. I have had a bottle of Water at my bedside to rinse my mouth and spit into a basin. Those first few hours it was invaluable because I was so dry my tongue was sticking to my cheeks!

I am a little concerned I haven't peed yet. I felt like I had to go but nothing happened. I am on my third bag of saline. Maybe I was just dehydrated?

To all today's sleevers - good luck!

congrats sleeve sister!!!!

i wouldnt worry about the pee thing, i have been having the same problem. i have been able to pee, but i have to sit there forever to get it going, plus it is really dark and i have to push it out.

i didnt get a tube. i am wondering why some people get it and others dont? mabye just some people have more Fluid build up? they wouldnt give me anything to take away the dry mouth so i had my daughter get some paper towels wet and stick them in a baggy to wet my mouth because it is all dried out. they said it was from the anti nausea med that they put into my iv.

i have been able to walk around the hospital (inside) doing laps. i have taken 3 different walks since the surgery going around 4 times each, it really helps me feel better. it relieves the pressure on my stomach.

well congrats again keep me posted on your recovery as well :)

I am on east coast time in my head so I was up at 4 AM this morning. I was able to pee three times so the gas is moving around. Lol- every time I take a breath the pee stops so I am holding my breath to go! I was able to get up, put my bottoms on, brush my teeth and hair, and go walk around. I think the walking helped push the gas into shoulder because it is pretty uncomfortable. The part that is worst right now is where my drain is. I dint know if it is the drain or the gas but no bueno! I just got a shot of pain meds so I will be asleep again soon. Good luck to everyone on their sleeviness.

Welcome to the other side! So glad to hear you're doing well. I woudnt worry too much about the lack of urination. The body tends to hold on to fluids after a trauma - I don't think I urinated until halfway thru day 2.

Congrats! :)

HDUB, you are taking me back three weeks. I was there maybe in the same room as you are now. I can't remember much about it though. It seems like three years ago. I don't think that I was ready to communicate much for awhile, and I think it is amazing that you want to and can this soon after surgery. The first three days were the worst though - I do remember that.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
