I have been sleeved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I received my sleeve on Aug. 4th. Everything went awesome! :D My fears of pain were misplaced and all I have to say about that is.... they give you pain meds for a reason. USE THEM. It made my life a million times easier. The only real pain I felt was from the gas they expand your abdomen with anyway... which is intense! Pain meds were my friend until about three days out and I was good after that. However... I was feeling so good I went on a walk with my dog and guess I didn't realize how far I went and maybe over did it. I have a very sore spot in my tummy next to an incision area that I my have pulled. It feels like it's on fire when I turn a certain way sometimes. But, I'll be ok.

Today is my first day back to work but I'm only in to read and answer emails and then I'm heading home at 12. I will be back full time next week.

I have to say this is the best decision I have ever made in my life. No regrets what so ever!

I haven't been sick and really the only thing that has changed is the way the Protein tastes. I will have to find some I can deal with because what I bought before I just can't choke down.<_< Any suggestions would be wonderful!

So if anyone has any questions about anything please feel free to ask.

Congrats and welcome to "the other side"

Sounds a lot like me in the begining. You are doing wonderful, keep up the good work! I couldn't stand the Protein Drinks either and still can't for the most part. The only 2 that I can handle are Pure Protein strawberry Cream in the can, Vitamin Shoppe has them and whey Extreme 60 chocolate from GNC.

I have tried just about everything and they all make me GAG!!

Good luck to you!!

Kelly ;)

Thanks Kelly, I will check those out. I wonder if it is possible to just eat enough meat to get all the Protein you need? Wouldn't that be great! I guess you would be stuffed full all of the time though.

Your doctor will want you to get all your Protein from solid food eventually, but now you have to take care of your new tummy. I get all my protein from chicken, cheese, peanuts, etc.

Glad to hear you are doing well!! Keep up the good work!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
