Looking Forward to Buying a Scale!

Recommended Posts

Haven't had a scale in the house for about 2 years....now that surgery is over and I am home safe and sound, I am actually looking forward to going out and buying a scale today!!! It will still be depressing to see that astronomical figure, but oh how satisfying it will be to (hopefully) watch it go down...downnn....downnnnnnn...

Imagine that, no fear of a scale anymore! That's great. I hope to get over my fear too shortly....

OK, this sounds like a NSV (non scale victory) but since a scale is involved.... tough call. :) Either way, it is a cool thing to Celebrate. Thanks for sharing! I hope you learn to love jumping on the scale and seeing those numbers go down!

Ha--YES!! I weigh myself in the morning and at night, and I am loving to see the weight drop! I got a digital scale, so at least it might be a little more accurate! My kids are loving it too--"oh, I'm 80 pounds, I'm 139.."etc... It is crazy though that I need to "lose" about 1 kid to be down to my goal weight!

I have teenagers, and my youngest daughter weighs 115 pounds. I keep telling her I'm trying to lose her. :)

I actually ditched my digital scale (it never was accurate) and bought an old-fashioned one for $8. :) Of course it weighs perfectly!

yes some digital scales can be junk - I own two Tanita brand, they are awesome and always accurate - have had my oldest one for about 10 years I guess. Got the second one because it measures in .2 increments where original was .5. Tanita is the brand that weight watchers uses at their meetings.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
