I keep thinking I'm not losing fast enough

Recommended Posts

:sigh I feel like I've been at the same weight forever. In reality it's been 11 days of up two down one...up half down half up down up down. It's annoying.

Then I go back over the last month and realize that I've only lost 6lbs in the last 30 days...and I begin to wonder what I'm doing wrong. sad.gif

Don't be discouraged, right around 65 pounds lost my body went completely shut down mode and did not want to budge either. I think it is kind of survival mode. I am losing again, but super slow, and that is ok because it is healthier. Frustrating, but it will still come off. 6 pounds in 30 days is still excellent, and it means you are still loosing, and not going backward!! Just focus on the important stuff, like massive Water intake. When in doubt, drink some more water, of all things it will probably help the most. I have also read from someone on here that once your body reaches a weight that it had been at for a long period of time it tried to stay there. So for me, 180-185 ish was my normal weight for a good part of my life, so my body did NOT want to leave that weight range. Maybe this is the case?

Hey Apple-saucy... i am on the same page as you... in 8 weeks I have lost 5lb... but it is STILL A LOSS!!

I do bounce up and down 2lb from day to day.

I am now of the opinion that my body will respond when it is good and ready... but I am over a year out so the fast weight loss is a thing of the past, actually I never was a 'fast' loser!

Just keep doing what you are doing and try to relax. It will happen for you... and for all of us! =]

30 days, 3 pounds. At least its in the right direction! Part of that time I gained 2 pounds..... The body does what it wants... just keep on with the good habits as much as you can.

Yup, this sounds like my story too. I have been losing 6 pounds a month since I was 3 months out. I am nervous because I've barely lost anything the last 6 weeks. I'm 9 months out and lost about 80 pounds but I still have 47 pounds to go. Coops is right though it will happen. When you think about it, how could it be possible to not lose weight with the amount we eat. Foxgirl, thats a interestiing point you made, my body was at the weight I am now for a long time maybe it just wants to sit there a while.

I feel the same way.... it is frustrating - I want to see big numbers!!!! LOL! I am determined to do better for the month of August.. I only weigh myself once a month cause I dont want to get frustrated... I can tell in my clothes if I am losing or not! But come 9/3/2011 my next weigh in... If I dont see a better weight loss I am doing the 5 day pouch test... that will get me back on track!

Good luck!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
