I moved to purees on day 5 and soft solids on day 8. I am not sure why the instructions vary but would say if you are getting hungry talk to your doctor about a puree meal a day.

Wow. I was on full liquids for a week, and now am on pureed foods for 6 weeks, then I move to soft foods. I had surgery 6/29 and won't be eating solids until October!!

I think some surgeons are just a lot more cautious than others. From what I understand, solid foods just work your healing stomach a lot harder, so there's more of a risk of causing a staple line leak early out. Or, if you don't chew it thoroughly enough you can cause a blockage.

Kids it's all about keeping you little stomach full preferably with Protein. Not washing it down with liquid. If you are hungry eat. Just a little 4 oz and chew, chew chew!

Your stomach isnt completely healed for 6 weeks. Staying on full liquids or pureed/mushy foods is easier for your stomach while its repairing itself. Whether my doctor said I could eat chicken or steak or anything similar I wouldnt. I want my stomach to be comletely healed before it has to endure solid food. Its the same when some of the surgeons didnt required any diet head of time, but some gals knew it would be easier if their stomachs and bowels were empty at surgery time and dieted anyway. Dont get me wrong Im sick of blended Soups and puddings too but I want to baby my stomach as long as it needs to heal completly. I feel 90% on the outside, but I know that is not true inside.

I had surgery July 18. Lost 5 pounds pre and through today -27 pounds. No problems at all. However, since 2nd week eating just about everything in the correct amounts including salad and other veg, growing beef, chicken, lobster etc. Kind of weird given I read so many people have such problems eating. Started at 305 now 278. Slower rate of loss. Swimming 1/2 mile and walking 1 mile every day. Increasing exercise. I am concerned because eating doesn't bother me. I do get full quickly but can eat everything. Are there others who have had the same experience?

Wow, I was not allowed salad until week 6. I had full liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 more works. Even at 5 and 6 weeks my best friend was yogurt. I just can not imgane eating at 3 weeks anything that was not super soft. At 5 weeks Carl budding meat gave me a stuck episode!!

I started solids on the direction of my doctor. I didn't have a problem until last night. My husband and I went to a concert and ate dinner out before the concert. I ordered ahi tuna with some lobster mac and cheese and heirloom tomatoes. When the tomatoes came they had slices of cucumber with peel included. I was eating and talking to my husband and without even thinking grabbed a cucumber and popped it into my mouth. About 5 minutes later it would not budge. Not going up and not going down. The sliming started and I ended up getting sick. I was so mad at myself for foregoing a wonderful piece of fish to eat a lousy cucumber and winding up losing my dinner all together. I realized I need to be more conscious of my eating. I am going to have to work on that for sure. Also not drinking with meals is very difficult for me. How is everyone doing with that?

I sip while eating, never more than an ounce or 2. Never has anything "washed" through the sleeve for me.

I am guessing it was not the peel on cucumber so much as the size.

I am 6 weeks and at 4 weeks was allowed to try anything except fiberous raw veg. I have had all kinds of meats, veg and fruits. Salads at 4 wks and have had no problems. Somethings are heavier in my stomach than others but I started feeling better as soon as I got to eat solid foods.

I've been on foods of all kinds since four days post-op and I've never had a problem with eating (or drinking) either. I'm very glad!!

Remember forums are for people who have questions. Most people who have no problems do not post. for example, If you read Honda forums you would think it was a bad car.

Nor true ! Good experiences educate as well as bad! We don't burn books yet in our country. Unlike China and the former USSR!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
