Texas True Choice

Recommended Posts

Has anyone on this website heard of Texas True Choice, it will be my new ins. carrier effective in the fall. Do they cover bariatric surgery? If you know anything about this carrier, please let me know. My surgery is already covered, I would need aftercare for fills, or complications. I will try to call the 1*800 number, but I'm not sure they will give me info, since technically, I am not an official member on their plan.

Marlluvia,

Is TX True Choice part of BCBS of TX? Are you in a big group? If you are in a group, I bet pre-existing conditions will be covered, so fills would be. I'm speculating.

Hmm, Not heard of them. Not wanting to rain on your parade, but everytime I've had an insurance switch - PREEXISTING CONDITIONS are NOT covered for at least a 1 year period. And these were group covered insurance programs.

They get you coming and going - I believe they really don't want to pay and they don't care if they help you or not.

Hi, :messenger3:

I do collections for a medical facility here in Dallas. Texas True Choice is not part of BCBS. You never know about one insurance company to another. You could call their 1-800 # like you said,,,, just explain to them that you were banded under another insurance company and you will need to have follow-up after your new insurance takes affect. Tell them it will be done in the doctor's office vs hospital. Sometimes procedures done in the doc's office are covered under copays. Also, when switching insurance the new insurance will ask for proof of "Continuation of Coverage" (COB). Generally, the old insurance company supplies letters to the employee's stating you were covered from the effective date to the termed date, and your new insurance picks up the day after or the day of the termed date of old insurance..... other words... no lapse in coverage.

Sorry to ramble on, but if have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Don't know if I'll have the right answers, but I'll sure be glad to help if I can.

Smiles,

:gluck:

Thanks Endocollector, what you stated makes sense. I have not gotten around to calling them yet, since I just had surgery, still a little sore. I have group insurance and basically my employer will give them continuos coverage up until August of this year. My employer is supposed to be mailing out information about them sometime soon. I'll e-mail if I have any more questions after receiving info. from employer. Thanks again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
