Hi, there!

My name is Dian and I was banded on July 5th, 2006. My surgeon is Dr Curtis Mosier. My surgery was done at Presbyterian Hospital of Denton in Denton, Texas. This is also where I work as the QA Analyst for the Admissions department. I started out around 200 lbs., was down to 189 by day of surgery after 10 liquid diet and hope to get to the 130-140 range. I am 5 feet tall and have a small, delicate frame. This weight goal allows me to go back to what I weighed in high school and I feel is pretty realistic, but not too drastic. I've been "pleasantly plump" since puberty.

The main reason I had this procedure done is to prevent the health problems that would be right around the corner for me, such as diabetes, hypertension and possibly cancer. I lost my Mom to breast cancer in 2002. She was almost 53 and I was barely 28. I now have a 2 yr old, who was born 2yrs and 2mos to the day of my Mom's death. I want my little girl to have a happier, healthier Mom!

My insurance did cover my surgery:-) I planned to stay overnight after my surgery and was so glad I did, as I had some difficulty keeping things down due to the tightness of my band. I have a 9.75, which I've been told is the smallest available. My surgeon kept me in in the hospital an additional day to insure I was going to be able to continue keeping liquids down. I was discharged the afternoon of the 7th. I'm not having any difficulty with any of the incisions, except where the port is...it hurts a bunch :-( I'm currently struggling with burping or I guess the inability to burp. Any advice?

I would love to hear from anyone, especially if you're local!!!!

I look forward to meeting everyone :-)

Hi Dianer...I, too, lost my mom at a young age. She was 61, I had just turned 30. Congestive heart failure (which I had no idea she suffered from until I got "the call") robbed me of her way too soon. I wish you lots of strangth!!! Congrats on your LAP band. I am seriously considering this option also..... I would love to hear about your experience.

Sorry for your loss. I too suffered a huge loss - my dad died at 47 - I was 18 - heart attack. This is one reason I am hoping and praying my insurance will over the bad for me. I went to see Dr. Wilkenfeld. My BMI is 35.9 (202 lbs) and with my high blood pressure - I'm a candidate. Now just the hurry up and wait to see if UHC will cover me. I'll keep you in my prayers! Trish

Thanks for the message. WOW! Your dad was really young....It is a hard loss, and one I think you never recover from. My mom was just 19 and her dad was 551 when he died of congestive heart failure. Her heart was broken until the day she died of the same thing......I sure do miss her, and want to see her on "the other side"....But, as much as I would love to see her face again, I don;t want to do it too soon...hence my need to get this fat off me!!! :help:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
