Help, Im in Pain!!!

Recommended Posts

:think Im 11 days post-op and had my 1st pureed meal on Friday. I felt very full and uncomfortable. After the full feeling left, I had a sharp pain in the front left side, under my breast ( I think my stomach.) 2 days later and Im still feelin pain when I move, bend or sit. Im trying not to panic. Has anyone else ever expierenced this? If so how long and what did you do?

I'm sorry to hear your in such pain. I'm not banded yet, so not much help. Have you tried calling your doctor yet? I would certainly do it tomorrow, if you can't get a hold of any one tonight. If your pain is unbearable, however, I would not hesitate to go to the ER. Best of luck.

Go back to liquids. sounds like your band isn't ready for pureed foods yet. Do full liquids, not just clear, but sip small and slow. You have to listen to your body and let it call the shots, not the meal plan. There is no harm in NOT progressing to the next food stage if your body isn't tolerating it well. After a few days of full liquids and slowing down, you should no longer be in pain. Is it a "sore" pain, or something more "sharp?" If in doubt, call your doc, but definately stick to liquids and slow down.

After hours in an out-of-town ER and $100.00 wasted, I can tell you that ER doctors don't know what to do with band problems. Try to reach your lapband doctor if it doesn't improve. I agree with Kathy that you're probably not ready for anything but liquids yet. I'm so sorry that you're in pain.

I agree with Kathy. You are probably still swollen and not ready for any time of mushies or puree foods. Slow down and take it easy for the new few days. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
