The milestones keep coming! According to the BMI chart for my height, I reached "normal" status over the weekend. No longer overweight :-)

I, personally, think BMI calculations are garbage, but it is nice to finally be clinically normal. I also am steady in size 12 pants and, for some reason, that really had an emotional affect on me. I really do feel like a normal person again for the first time in so many years. I've been having some tough times lately with my eating limitations, but having this constant progress is so helpful.

Feeling fantastically average...

I agree~ BOO to BMI charts! But I'm sure you can get a little satisfaction being "normal" now. Not sure I will ever get to use that term to describe me- in so many ways! ;)

Ive heard BMI charts haven't been revised since they were created.....a long time ago and people have gotten taller and yes heavier. But I bet it does feel great to see your weight fall in that "normal" range.:) I hate seeing Morbidly obese, it sounds so ominous.

Yeah, the BMI charts are crap. My boyfriend is a tri-athlete. Not an ounce of fat on him - and he ranks on the very high side of normal for his height. Almost overweight. He has a 29 inch waist for crying out loud! It is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! The BMI calculation does not accout for muscle mass at all, especially for athletes that have more developed musculature.

Of course, I am not an athlete :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
