I can!! And could about 4 weeks out. I have not had any issues with liquids at all. I took the recommended sips for 3 weeks and then took bigger and bigger drinks. It hurt a few times in my chest and I backed off. I was still swollen I am sure.

I take 3-4 big sips out of a straw without stopping and 2-3 big swallows just drinking out of a cup. I can drink a 16 oz bottle of Water in no time! I think most on here can drink without issue!!

I chug Water all the time, especially during spin class. It sure makes getting fluids in easier! Good Luck. It gets better!!!!

I'm two months out and am able to drink thin liquids normally, even have taken a few gulps. Unsweet tea, Crystal Light, plain Water . . . it goes down great and I'm so much more satisfied drinking now that I'm not taking baby sips. Thicker liquids--milk, Protein drinks, even the occasional small glass of grape juice, I have to drink just a little slower, but I still can do more than sips.

Don't worry, you'll be drinking like you were before surgery in no time!

I don't chug the Water. I might take 3 gulps in a row, and wait a little bit. Not too long, but enough so that I don't get burpy, or worse, vurpy.

Yes, yes, yes! I was sooo happy when I was finally able to gulp again :)...I even did a demonstration at one of the option classes at Kaiser and everyone was happy to know they will eventually get there again :).

I gulp and take in large quantities often. doesn't bother me. If the Water is too cold, i can feel it in my chest. other than that, i take big gulps a lot through out the day

At 6 weeks out, I can drink a tea cup or 1.5 teacups of Water all at once… it feels great when I'm thirsty! Any more and it hurts a little but I expect that it'll keep getting better over time.

I am 3 weeks out and have no problem getting 20 oz or so down in 1/2 hour or so. I am not gulping but not sipping either!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
