I'm interested in joining up as well! I'm in pre-op mode right now as I await surgery on June 7, 2013, but after a failed LapBand experience, I certainly recognize the need for community and solidarity! I live in Woodbridge (VA) but work in Rockville (MD), so I'm used to driving...lol. :tongue2:

Seems like I'm late to this party.

My name is TJ and I was sleeved in July 2012 by Dr. Kelly in Mexico. I currently live in Montgomery County' date=' MD and work in DC. I weighed 337 at my heaviest and I am currently at 206 (fighting stupid hard to get down to the 100's). This thread doesn't seem to be too active, but I would definitely like to see more MD/DC/VA sleevers post here.

To those who have been sleeved - lets keep up the drive, lets exercise and lets hit goal.

To those who have yet to be sleeved - you can do it, I had to pay out of pocket and saved for a year before I could, but I did. It is the best decision you will ever make.

Happy Friday![/quote']

Inline,

How was your experience in Mexico? I'm preparing myself for that route in case I'm denied by Aetna? Have you had Any problems finding follow up care here?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
