The Enablers

Recommended Posts

Co-worker Ben just walked in my office to announce his $10.00 purchase of chocolates to share with the office. He told me eat as much as I want. My surgery is tomorrow. I told him to get out! I told him if he comes back I'm buying ENABLER t-shirts for the whole firm, and his will read ENABLER NUMBER 1. Last night my husband, knowing I was supposed to be doing the low-cal preop, made me a sandwich. I refused it, so he cut it in half. I refused it, so he gave me a quarter of it .... gulp. That started my binge. Why don't they get it?

Are there any chocolates left? I must be gearing up to be non-menstrual (that's peri-menopause for "I'd be having a period soon, if I were going to have a period...." Sorry guys!) 'cause I'm hungry, and I just ate.

Anyway, about those chocolates....

Hey DeLarla,

Frustrating isn't it? The nurse I used to sit next to would lay Cookies and muffins and candy on my desk as soon as she would hear I was on a diet... man how I don't miss her. My hubby tends to do things like that too... I think they want to be the provider of our happiness... and maybe there is a small part of them that is insecure at the thought of us losing weight? Heck... even my sister would give me the remainder of her entire plate after she had the RNY. I stopped going out to lunch with her.

The best of luck today to you! Oh... if the chocolate isn't gone already could you put a couple on my old partner's desk?

Darcy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
