I am wondering if as I lose weight with the sleeve, will my synthroid dose change? I am taking 0.2mg daily. Will I need less when I weigh less or does this tend to be a static thing? What has everyone else's experience been?

I will be six months out in another week. My dose remained the same when my TSH was checked at 3 months--I'll have another done next week. My PCP expects the dosage to decrease as I lose, we already talked about it which is why I'm getting tested every three months.

Same here as Foxbins. My TSH will get checked in a couple of weeks, and we'll see if we have to adjust the dose. My PCP said we might have to lower the dose, but I'll believe that when I see it, as difficult as it was to get the thing regulated in the first place!!

For me, in the past when I have lost weight my dose always went down. Then when I gained the weight back it went back up. I am getting my levels checked next week and I think my dose will need to be lowered. I am pretty in tune with my body and I am feeling my heart race sometimes and I have been itchy. That is usually the sign that the dose needs to be lowered. When I start to lose my hair and eye brows I need a higher dose.:)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
