Its been one week since I was sleeved on june 21. Im feeling pretty good, everyday is getting better. Im doing pretty good with everything ie: eating, Water, Vitamins the only thing im having a little trouble with is protien if i take a couple sips i get full, its been tough to get it all in. I eat about 2oz per meal at this point but that protien just fills me up

Hi Jcollins! I had my surgery June 23. I think what you're going through is normal. I get anywhere from 15-25 ounces of liquid in, in a day. My Protein is the hardest thing to get enough of. I'm probably getting anywhere from 20-35 grams in daily right now but it didn't start that way. It has been a slow build up. I think the first couple of weeks are really hard because are tiny stomachs are swollen and we are just so busy trying to stay hydrated and learn our new way of eating...sipping. I don't know about you but I constantly feel bloated and full. It hurts and I'm so NOT hungry. I'm having to force myself to take in what I have so far. I think it will only get better from this point.

Keep us posted. I love comparing notes and love knowing that I'm not the only one going through what I'm going through. :)

Yea i felt bloated and full to all the time, i started drinking Isopure protien and i got more of that down than anyother protien shake and it has zero carbs so i will start drinking that more. I can sleep on my stomach now so im getting more rest, these past couple days ive had a lot of energy, ive been walking 3 miles a day which is about an hr, everyday is getting better.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your new tummy. I will say this, I'm never hungry as of so far but when my husband cooks for him and my son, the food smells really good and I wish that I could have some. For me, just feeling so bloated and being sooooo sick of the Protein shakes, broth, grape juice, the same thing over and over maybe why I could care less about eating. I think if I could have real food and wasn't so bloated all the time, I think I would be hungry. The last couple of days I have been dreaming and talking about what foods I will eat when I can finally eat. I have even been thinking a lot about the foods that I can puree when that time comes. So I don't think anything is wrong with you. Also, I don't really know the difference in the sizes of bougies that a surgeon uses. I know that right before surgery, my surgeon and I talked and I told him that I was afraid that I would panic after surgery when I couldn't get much down. He said that he thought that he would give me a size 34 then. But then he said that he thought I would do good with a size 32 and that it was up me. So I decided on the smallest size. Maybe your bougie size was a little bigger. Do you know what size your surgeon gave you? Just a thought. I'm not sure that there is a big difference in the sizes but it could be a reason.

That will definately be one of the questions I will ask my surgeon! I see him friday. Post op diets are so different! R u able to have soups! ? My doc said I could eat anything I put in a blender n that will fit thru a straw. I haven't really done that cuz I'm scared. But tonight I added cheese to my creme of chicken Soup and it made it more tasty. Like a real food, kinda anyway!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
