Band docs who see other docs patients?

Hello, I had surgery in Mexico and was wondering if any U.S. docs will see other docs patients here? Preferably in Ca. If anyone has had any experience with this, please respond. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi Kathy and Welcome to Lapbandtalk

I was banded in Monterrey MX and have had 3 fills.

First by Dr. Lim under flouroscope (Penn. hospital, San Bruno, CA) via Dr. Pamela Foster.

The other 2 (blind) fills by Dr. Robert Mckeen, San Jose CA www.southbaybariatrics.com

I also know of Dr. Helmuth Billy of Ventra and Truckee (2 offices).

What part of CA are you from? Just South of the border there are fine Doctors that I don't know details on, but I'm sure Sue or Donali do.

Hi Vera,

I live in Southern CA. I already know those docs in MX and am looking for one here in So. Ca. for emergency care and possibly fills. I have kids and it takes literally all day to go down there to get fills. A doc even an hour away would be worth it to me. So does anyone know of any docs somewhere between San Diego and L.A. who see other docs patients??

Thanks,

The ones I have found will cost you about $1300 per adjustment, IF they decide to accept you. (They have to be in the mood.) I also have a calll in to Dr. Billy, in Ventura County, but no response yet. After that, Tijuana--as inconvenient as it is--is the least inconvenient.

I think that, for REAL emergencies, Quebbemann in Newport/Huntington might be available to other doctors, but last I checked he didn't do routine stuff for other doctors' patients.

I think Inamed needs to recruit a radiologist in Southern California who could just do adjustments all day. But I think they would still charge quite a bit. (Up north, Cirangle's office adjusts for others, I think. But I think that was about $1000, plus travel up to San Francisco...WAY over an hour away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
