Crying at work and just overall not having a good day

Recommended Posts

So I don't even know what Acid Reflux is supposed to feel like because I have never had it before. So I told you about this lump in my throat, well it is making me gag and now I feel sick to my stomach. I am just crying and crying because I can't get rid of it. I sort of felt something burn, but then I just drank some Water and the craziest thing is that my tounge feels like it has fur on it. Like there is lint in my mouth and I can't get it out. The lump is worse now then it ever has been and feels bigger. I am just scared, and I am cry baby, but before this surgery I was just fat I didn't have any problems except for being a fatty. I am feeling like I made a mistake. I am still at work by the way.

You know the saying,,,it's darkest before the dawn. Well, that's where you are right now. My days 4 thru 8 were harder than the first 3. But by day 11 I was good, and by day 15 I was golden. It just takes time to heal. You will be okay in time, I'm sure of it. Keep thinking of the positive reasons you did this and it will get better!

I feel for you! Most people take more time off work than you did. Can you negotiate shorter days or maybe take one day off per week for the next couple of weeks so it's not the full five day-forty hour load?

I have found that standing and giving my tummy some uncrunched space helps when it starts feeling cranky.

Also, I rinse my mouth with mouthwash or even just Water if it has a funky taste.

I get a lump feeling sometimes but I haven't equated it with acid reflux. I had heartburn when I was pregnant many moons ago and that felt like a fire in my chest. The lump thing feels like I've eaten too much even though I may not have eaten anything. I think when I get overtired my stomach rebels and maybe swells a little more and that is the feeling. However, I really don't know if that is it or not.

Be sure you are getting your Water in. If you do that, most good things follow. Just try to make it through the next couple of weeks. I'm a little over a month out and I feel so much better that it's hard to remember just how crappy I felt the first two weeks.

Sweetie,,..call your doctor and get his recommendation. You can either start prilosec or he can call in a RX. Since your body is still adjusting to it's new size, the acid has no where to go but UP. If you can, try to take some more time off. There was NO WAY I could have gone back to work.

I did take the meds in the beginning to and then was able to stop using it. I do need it every now and then.

(((HUGS))) Hope you start feeling better soon.

Above all: REMEMBER TO BREATH!!!! Take a deep breath and breath. Sometimes we all just forget to do that. It's called a cleansing breath. Doing so sometimes will bring us back to focus and on track. We all at times are heading straight for a train wreck.

You will get through this. You know that. In the beginning it's a challenge. I'm with you having my own surgery on 6/6. You're up to the challeng or you wouldn't have had the hutzpah to have the surgery in the first place.:boxing:

Look toward your goal and follow the rainbow to get there. When you begin to have self doubts:

STOP, :hand: AND REMEMBER TO BREATH!!!!.

Keep in touch, :ranger: so we can nag you some more,:boink: :director:

I didn't read the other replies so I apologize if this is a repeat. Your tongue is fuzzy because of the liquid diet and ketosis, and a tongue scraper will help.

Get on an acid reducer ASAP. I didn't have reflux pre-VSG either, but it happens a lot.

Gaviscon is a safe OTC medication to use for instant relief. Tums/Rolaids can actually make it worse.

I had my surgery on June 14 and am having the same experience. The lump gets better with Gas X, but I think the furry tongue syndrome is something we have to deal with for a couple of weeks. My big worry is I'm having dizziness and am worried I've torn apart the staples. By the way, I can't believe you are back to work. You shouldn't cry because you're stronger than most. Get well soon.

I literally told my boss I need more time. she wasn't too happy, but oh well. i think about everyone else but myself. this time i had no choice. so i got some prevacid, that stupid lump is still there, but i just feel better in general because of these three days off. i wish i had 3 weeks, but that woulld be out of the question. back to work again on monday, but at least i can eat eggs. i just have a good feeling about eggs. i am also able to get more fluids in. since starting the prevacid no more furry toungue. i will just keep on it and keep breathing!

I had bad bad reflux and I didn't really know what it was, but after dealing with the enormous pain for about a day and a half, I took some nexium powder. works great. good luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
