I need help with "soft" food ideas... recipes

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I am begging for some advice for some low carb, high Protein "soft foods". I have been trying to read all of the posts here, but with me working full-time and going to school full-time my time is limited. I could really use some good ideas. I like the recipes that have been posted along the lines of sheppards pie (which I can chew, chew, chew). I'm going to make the tuna melts that were listed on the site for the before and after book (that I hope to buy soon). Any more ideas would be appreciated!!!! I'm tired of the same ole same ole. But I am also supposed to be incorporating regular foods in the next few days. Any help please...

:help:

Test the more solid of these for yourself. My first golf ball was scrambled eggs. Think of this stage as food you could eat if you had no teeth.

Gorton's frozen fish - no breading. They come in 3-oz servings

Frozen crab cakes - again in 3-oz servings

Cottage cheese and canned fruit

Refried Beans topped with melted cheese

Soups with chunks of vegetables or soft meats. I lived on Soups.< /p>

Canned fruit (fresh is too much just yet)

Mashed potatoes

Saltines or Ritz crackers with humus

Yogurt

Applesauce

pudding

Cream of Wheat

Fluffy scrambled eggs - some people add cottage cheese

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
