Day 7 - Two Strange Things - Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Ok so a week ago I did it. Today I have a lump in my throat that won't go away. I have had this prior to being sleeved, but it has been so long I can't remember. it is super annoying. What is it???? And number 2, shortness of breath. I seriously can't walk up a flight of stairs without being winded. I am more winded than I was before. Anyone?

On a more postive note I am down 23 pounds. 6 pounds leading up to my surgery and 17 this week. How much does your 85% of stomach weigh :) I also bought numerous amounts of egg substitutes and eggs. Next monday I can eat eggs, and I will eat them FOREVER! I will get my Protein in with EGGS! EGGS! EGGS! I LOVE EGGS! And...I weighed myself at work, but I will commit to not weighing myself anymore except at Doctor's visits. I DO NOT WANT TO BE A SLAVE TO THE SCALE!

Hi- we share the same sleeve date :)

lump- shortness of breath... I say is either a post op infection or has to do with the breathing tubes-Anastesia...

I had a post op cold- head/lungs... today I feel better- however-

1. after breakfast-shake and a shower, I am tired.

2. my ambition level is still low.

3. last two days, every time I stand up- I get dizzy.

I have lost 19 pounds since last monday. 52 since orientation on 2/22.

I am trying to be more upright today and mobile to see if the dizzyness goes away-

or I will try to get a Bp check tomorrow- I was not on bp meds, however this is exactly how I felt-

when I was on them and lost the weight...

I too, love eggs- can't wait... but my wife is sayng not until Dr. app.

1 week tuesday... :(

I so also want mashed potatoes...

I hope my taste buds don;t change... so far I am disliking Decaf tea...

still like decaf coffee.

I had the exact same thing when I was early out. The lump in my throat was acid. Sounds strange, but that's what everyone here said and then my surgeon confirmed this. So I upped my Nexium to twice a day as he suggested and it solved the problem completely. I am now back down to once a day and sometimes, every other day.

This may not be your trouble, but you might look into it.smile.gif

I guess I'll start by saying I AM NOT A DOCTOR :-) so I'll just post some thougthts: wondering if the lump is a little spasm??? I understand they are common rigth after surgery. I was given and anti spasm / anxiolitic just in case which I did not need. Regarding feeling winded, I had that too. I was pretty active before surgery and even thougth I am up to walking about 3 miles a day, I am ALOT slower and I get out of breath easier. I wonder if that is due to the combination anesthesia and of course the healing our bodies are doing. I am two weeks out today. Just some thoughts. I am NOT an authority on this! :-) Congratulations on your progress!!!!!

You will feel better in a month or more. I noticed at the beginning I was out of breath and tired a lot quicker than I had been before the surgery. Now I have a ton of energy. I am not feeling winded at all and believe it or not I actually "jogged" on a treadmill. I never thought that would happen~!! Hang in there and use the breath thing the doc gives you after surgery. It helps. :)

I too had EXACTLY what you describe for years, possibly decades, I lost track. My doctor never seemed to know what it was but thought that it was due to either or both of my esophageal issues, I had a hiatal hernia or from the schatzki's ring I had (probably still do). The ring was a fibrous band that actually narrowed my esophagus, it would actually make me gag and "vomit" up food, although the food never made it to my stomach.

Whatever it is it's no issue now, either the surgery fixed it or the small amount of food I eat makes it less obvious, the "lump" is gone. Hope yours works out the same as well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
