Hi I just had my first visit with my surgeon, May 20th for the sleeve. I have Aetna too. I have my first appt with the Nutristionist 5/31. I want to have my surgery by December this yr. (2011) because of the deductable. Do you think I will be approved by then? May to November is 6 months that Aetna requires. Let me know what you think OK? Thanks Trish

Trish -- I only had to do 90 days with Aetna. My very first visit with the surgeon to talk about my getting the sleeve was on January 28th. My surgery is June 9th. so about 5.5 months total start to finish. Are you saying that Aetna is requiring you to do the supervised weight loss program for 6 mos?? If so, you probably wont have it by the end of the year. Your last and final appt with the weight loss dr ( I had 90 days with weight loss dr, and then also at the same time i had 90 days with a dietician) will be exactly 6 mos to the day that you walked in. So that puts you at Nov 20th as your final appt. then your paperwork will be submitted to Aetna, if they take 2 wks that puts you early-mid dec. .. that means your surgery would have to be like right away. remember you will still have to go in for pretesting, and then a pre op visit to talk with dr. so your cutting it close.

Example - I walked in Jan 28th, my final appt was April 28th... i found out i was approved May 12th, and my surgery is June 9th.

If you have a smart dr, they will try to get you in by the cut off date bc of your deductible. Make sure you mention it.

Good luck girl :) Let me know if you have any other questions!

My package was submitted on Monday and I found out that Wednesday with Aetna. I had to do the 90 day supervised diet. My first appt. was in the last week of October and I was approved the first week of February for surgery that happened on March 1st. Aetna really was a breeze for me- I was impressed. Good luck!

I submitted my paper work on May 11th and had my answer by May 17th. Denied of course.

I had to do the 6 months pre-op diet as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
