We are able to access funds we had forgotten we had!!! AND a generous family member is helping as well! I just thank God it looks like its a real possiblity! Thanks for praying for me. Hopefully I'll be a June Jewel :) As of right now my monthly medicine is costing over $300 a month...paying this surgery off is half that..and I'll be on my way to being healthy!!

doing MUCH better today (post op day 4). Was able to come home from the hospital yesterday (was in 2 days instead of 1) and finally slept almost completely through the night last night. I'm doing well today, every hour i'm doing the following:

1. Using the incentive spirometer

2. sipping as much liquid as possible (did 2 Protein shakes with Vitamins that each took about 3 hours to finish and were 8 oz east) TRYING for 60oz per day.

3. walking 5 minutes

4. doing my seated ankle exercises

Hopefully, i can hit 60oz of Fluid today and tomorrow and start puree by Wednesday (fingers crossed). I'm still learning the limits of how much i can drink/sip at once without getting pressure and only had 1 minor episode with the "stuck" feeling today.

Overall i'm happy with my progress and just wanting to get back on track with the stages of the diet that were slightly delayed due to my complications (with taking liquids) in the hospital.

I'll definitely keep you updated! Thanks everyone for your support!

JG

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
