A PB Question

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, Here is my latest question trying to get more info.

when a person PB's, does it happen all at once or do you get some kind of warning that, "oh oh, pB on the way". And, is it like regular vomiting or something a bit more subtle.

I wonder, if your at a friends for dinner :hungry: do you suddenly surprise everyone :omg:, or do you get a chance to excuse yourself and run to the bathroom.

Man, if it was real sudden I think I would want to carry a PB Bag with me

:nervous comments please, thanks

I don't know if it's the same for everyone or not, but I always have plenty of warning. And it's much more subtle than regular vomiting - no yuk taste and no heaving.

for me, it starts out w/ a heaviness in my throat/chest area and I just know to get to the bathroom. If I say minimal words and don't really mouth breath, I usually just make it, I have only had 2 near misses on the floor, and both because someone was blocking my path to the bathroom (at home). But everyone is different, and even most PBs are different, so you just need to watch your body for cues.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
