Hello! This is my first post on here, but you guys have been educating me for a few weeks now--I really appreciate all of your help! I am about to schedule my surgery, and was wondering if I would feel well enough to stay home (by myself) once I come home from the hospital?? I am self-pay...therefore, I really can't afford for my husband to miss any work! He would be able to check on me at lunch, and of course would be home every evening. I'm not sure what to expect. I know everyone doesn't heal at the same rate, but I am curious to hear from you. Our families are out of town, and they would come if I asked, but I REALLY would rather not have any company. Thanks!

Personally I think I would have been fine alone. I didn't have any pain after leaving the hospital, but everyone is different. My parents came and stayed a couple weeks so my husband didn't have to take off work but that was just cause I have small kids.

I went to Mexico alone and yes I was in the hospital there for 3 days (that is the amount of time they keep you). If I had gone home I would have been fine. When I did get home I was able to handle making my own meals. I however did get help with lifting things to make sure I did not hurt myself. So Yes you will be fine at home while your hubby is at work and he can check on your through out the day.

YAY! That's exactly what I wanted to hear! I don't have any kids to take care of--only a cat LOL. I feel so much better. Thanks!

My doctor required that someone stay with me the day I went home (and that night). My friend actually stayed the next day and night as well and then went home. I was having terrible diarrhea problems that first day and part of the second, so it really helped to have someone there. Fine after that. However, doctor insistent about not being alone that first day home. Check with your doctor as to what he/she advises.

If you're going to be in the hospital for the first night, you will be fine! The first 24 hours were the only time I felt like i needed to be in the hospital, but Dr. Aceves keeps us 3 days. I was fine to travel home from Mexico alone.

I had help the next few days, but ONLY because I have two young children and was told not to lift over ten pounds. I ended up lifting them anyways sometimes out of necessity, and I didn't need any pain medication since the day after surgery. I personally think you'll be fine, just don't try driving anywhere if you are still on any meds!

We don't have kids either and I was fine alone at home while hubby was working. I went back to work a week after surgery and I was fine. Hubby helped with shopping bags every Saturday (he still does now, I love this new habit) and I too was able to prepare his dinner ever night. I think you'll be fine!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
