Good Evening,

Well I home from the hospital today. My sleeve was picture picture according to my dr. I will say the worst is the gas. I made a mistake yesterday and tried to walk it out instead of asking for help. Boy I regreted that. They doped me up pretty good last night. I woke this morning a new women. I am glad I am home no more of waking me up every two hours to check vitals and blood sugar. I am sore but nothing I can handle. I wil give one piece of advice if you are in pain let me know dont let get out of hand. I thought I could handle it. The staff at South Miami Hospital are the best and very caring. Well I thought I would make a small post. To my red velvet gang I made it....Meggie and all my gang good luck next week.

Connie

Congratulations, Connie!!! I'm so glad your surgery was successful and you are feeling better.

I agree about the pain meds. I had a pump and whether I needed it or not, I pushed that sucker as often as it would let me. I figured I would have plenty of time at home to try to handle the pain on my own. If that stuff was available, I was using it!!! And it turns out I haven't had to take anything since I've been home.

Keep hanging in there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
