Birth control question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Have any birth control users gone back on it like after six weeks or so? My gyno said if I can't take the usual one she knows of a chewable one...what have you been told?

Thanks, Tracy

I have heard the best ones to remain effective while undergoing rapid weight loss are depo, IUDs, and Nuvaring. I am not 100% on this though.

I just have to say at 400 pounds it's risky to take the pill...I had a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism due to birth control. You should talk to your doctor aboutthe risks involved with the birth control pill for obese patients. Also kno the signs. I told my doctor I was having leg cramps and was short of breath and she said it was probably unrelated to the birth control, a week later I nearly died on the floor of my bathroom from the blood clots that traveled to my lungs. Not meant to scare anyone, just I was never really informed about the risk...I don't know what I am going to use when I lose weight....maybe IUD? I have two children and would eventually like another one....but the doc. says you must wait 18 months before becoming pregnant!

After years of being on the pill I switched to Nuvaring right before surgery. I find it great, no problem. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to swallow a pill, which I actually am, so I don't really know why but I am staying on the ring. I find it great, this way I won't forget to take pill and get pregnant, which is something that scares me (they did tell me to wait at least a year)

I started back taking my birth control pills at 2 weeks post op because me and my bf are very..... spontaneous so I didn't want to have any accidents. I'm on Loestrin24Fe and I haven't had any issues with it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
