Weighing in

  1. 1. How often do you weigh yourself

    • Every day, like clockwork
    • Once a week
    • More than once a day
    • Only when I think about it
    • Every two weeks or once a month.

I have to admitt, I weigh at least once a day! Sometimes once in the morning and once at night... I just can't help myself. I am learning not to let it get me down... and over the last week I am winning.

I record my weight once a week, on a Sat or Sunday and I measure myself every 2-3 weeks.

I can't ignore the scales, not now. I have to see those numbers to believe that I have lost 59lbs 'cos there are days when I don't feel like it!

Ignoring the scale allowed me to gain back what I had lost before on weight watchers a few years ago, plus 35 pounds. I have to weigh in daily so that I don't let the numbers jump 10 at a time before I realize it

I weight myself in the morning and in the evening before bed. I only record the weight once a week. As Tiffykins said our weight does fluctuate a bit through out the day. I do not get upset if nothing is moving because I know I am doing everything right and so the weight loss will continue.

Everyone needs to find what works for them. Possibly down the line I will weight myself less (but I wouldn't bet on it right now).

I use teh scale in the nurse's office every day after lunch, minus shoes. It is bad, but one of the requirements for the surgery the VA gives is to be at a certain weight, usually 5% lost. I watch to make sure I stay where I need to be. If I lose, great, if not oh well. As long as I don't add to. Plus I like watching the numbers go down for the first time in over 6 years. I know I am getting smaller because I am down to almost no work clothes that fit. My body seems to be staying proportionate, luckily enough.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
