i was just wondering how long people had to wait to get a response from insurance.. we submitted to insurance friday. i have horizon nj health(which is a *** for medicaid). i meet all the requirements, and have done all the appointments required.

also, once you got insurance okay, did u get scheduled for surgery right away, or was there a delay of any kind?

thanks

I have United Healthcare, and I waited 2 weeks. When I was approved, I was called within the next week with a date. I have heard that most insurances are faster than United, so you may hear faster. I hope so, and good luck.

My surgeon's office got everything submitted Friday (should have been Wednesday but there was a glitch in faxing some stuff). I got approval on Monday and my surgery was scheduled the following Thursday. So a week that felt like a month.

It depends. My surgeon's office said 2-3 weeks is average but my claim was submitted on a Thursday and approved by Monday (which was unusually fast).

My paperwork was submitted on a friday and I was approved the following friday. My doctor wanted me to lose a bit more so I wasn't scheduled right away but I would think once they have the approval they could have it scheduled at any time.

I have BCBS Anthem and they approved me after a week. I then had to wait another week because the hospital where I am having my surgery was closed that week. huh.gif But I got my date today. [:

I have Anthem BCBS and my approval was back within 3 days. BUT I didn't know for 8 days later... I just happen to call BCBS to find out and they said OH yeah it was approved last week!!! Can't hurt to be the squeaky wheel!

As for my surgery date, well I still dont have one. I was approved on 4/1/11. I have my pre surgery consult on 5/19/11 and was told surgery will be within 2 weeks of that appt. Why won't they just give me a date? IDK....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
