Good Evening All,

Well it is 7 days to I get sleeved. I had my Pre-Op class yesterday. I have some concerns but I am not overly worried about. Here are some key points I am not actually sure about. The first is the catheter, I hate hate and hate them. I understand why I need it but how do you get up and walk with them never done that before. The next thing is the nasograstric tube I have never had one before and I am totally worried about it. Here is the last thing the x-ray the next morning they give this barium and you have to drink 2 cups, how in the world do you do that when your stomach can only hold so much. So there you have my concerns; but other than that I am okay with everything. As long as I do not have any pain, I am good. I am going to get my bedroom but together and just try to relax. I have lost 20 pounds on the liquid diet. But today I just do not feel like anything and I am not hungry, I wonder if that is just the nerves kicking in. I am not sure. Any advice would be great on my concerns would be great. I love this forum I read it everyday. Well thats all for now. Everyone have a nice evening.

Connie

Do you have to have a catheter? My doctor does not use one.

The nasogastric tube is done while you are asleep, isn't it? When I think about everything that goes down your throat it is not my favorite thought either! I just remind myself I will be out for that.

I am a few days behind you- this is my third day of liquids. I don't have much appetite either, I am drinking a lot less of everything than I thought I would be.

It is normal to have some fears- just think about your goal in all this and how soon you will be on the losers bench!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
