In other news I am not dead.

Recommended Posts

Seven days post op. My incision is not infected. I am not sick or throwing up. I have no fever and no pain.

I am obsessed about getting Water, Protein, taking small sips, not putting anything into my mouth the doc said not to, taking my nexium, getting lots of rest...etc -- because I literally can not afford a complication.

However. Just to let ya know. So far, if you're thinking about going rogue over the border ( with a GOOD surgeon) and no insurance -- seven days out and I'm still not dead. :)

Great to hear crosswind! I am also without insurance and went south of the border on the 3-28! I am feeling...actually pretty great, considering major surgery 8 days ago. ;o) Keep up the great work, this feels like the right club to be a part of! ;o)

Glad to hear you aren't dead. Is that considered a NSV? B)

That is great to hear! I am in a tizzy as I just found out I might have surgery in two weeks and one of my major questions is whether I would be able to work an eight hour event at 12 days....

So glad you are alive (and well).

Congratulations Meggie! You really crossed all your eyes and dotted all your tees on this one. I predict you will also be not dead very very soon!

Haha...I had to tell some people that they do have doctors in Mexico too! I'm almost 3 months out and feel FANTASTIC!

So glad to hear it Crosswind. It's funny, you are two weeks ahead of me and I'm monitoring all your posts so I can kinda gauge how I'll be at that same point in 2 weeks. So keep the updates coming! And I hope it stays this smooth for you (and me in two weeks)

4 months out and besides kidney stones ( caused by not enough liquids and popping Tums ) I've had not complications either. Best thing I've ever done.

We all wish you the best and continues success.

I think I'd be more worried about going to Mexico than having the surgery. : )

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
